Find a full bucket of art on Saturday, Oct. 15, 11am to 5pm, when the Pasadena Playhouse District paints the town with its free ARTWalk. It’s a juried art festival with an open air arts market, art chats and art activities.
Revel in the wealth of free art at San Gabriel Valley’s largen urban art fair from free admission to the Pasadena Museum of California Art to a self-guided Gallery Walk and free spin art for kids. The Gallery Walk features original works traditional art galleries and “pop-up galleries” at local businesses and restaurants while the open air art market gives a stage to 25 visual artists. Listen to artists chat about their work in talks presented by the Pasadena Society of Artists at Vroman’s Bookstore or enjoy the sounds of a South Pasadena favorite, Donovan/Muradian Quintet at the El Molino Stage.Free Fun for all ages at the Hand-On Activity Village with mosaic art marking, personalized and colorful 3-D wall art, pottery painting, and more.

Love music? This Saturday, June 18th, is your chance to experience a wild variety of styles at California’s largest free music festival, Make Music Pasadena. There will be more than 100 concerts throughout the city, many of them in unconventional locations.
Get ready for a sonically good time, as there will be a wide array of talent showcased on six stages, ranging from well known acts such as Best Coast, to international musicians like Ben L’oncle Soul, and even local acts and DJs from KCRW. For a complete lineup click here.
The festival runs from 11 A.M. to 11 P.M. There will be plenty of parking available, and be sure to take advantage of going Metro, as the Metro Gold Line has stops located within walking distance of every main stage. By going Metro you can also receive a free ticket to the Keren Ann show at the Luckman Theatre.
Starting July 8, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, The Old Pasadena Film Festival screens classic cinema for free for the next four weeks at various locations around Pasadena. With nineteen screenings, the festival is the largest outdoor film festival in California, and with free admission, is expected to draw upwards of 8,000 attendees. The festival pays tribute to women in film, and begins with a special “Leading Ladies” series.
Other classic films include Annie Hall, Harold and Maude, and Bringing Up Baby. Don’t miss the recently restored Mary Pickford silent shorts, with members of the Malibu Coast Chamber Orchestra performing the scores live. In addition, Distant Lands, the specialty travel bookstore in Old Pasadena will once again hold travel films.
The Old Pasadena Film Festival concludes with a screening of the 1968 George Romero classic; Night of the Living Dead; a must see (if you haven’t already that is.) All screenings are free and open to the public.
There are a wide range of films and genres, so there’s sure to be something for everyone. At the very least its a great opportunity to enhance your cinematic experience.
