Free Bike Week LA Kicks Off This Week!

It’s time to bust out the old ten speed and get to cycling this week, as Monday, May 16th is the start of Metro’s 17th annual Bike Week LA. The schedule includes several free pedal-pumping events, including the Downtown LA Bike Ride on Wednesday, May 18th, and Bike to Work Day, Thursday, May 19th.

Speaking of Bike to Work Day, if you pledge to ride your bike to work, you can be entered in a drawing to win some awesome prizes! In addition, many public transportation providers will be giving free rides to cyclists who board with their bikes and/or helmets on May 19th.

Organizations other than Metro, such as LA Streetsblog, are also joining in on the fun. They hosted a pre-bike week ride to the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, and will also be hosting a night of street films on Monday night along with C.I.C.L.E., REI and the Pasadena Playhouse District, as part of Bike Week Pasadena.

Bike Week Pasadena is happening in conjunction with Bike Week LA, and includes free events such as Bike Film Night on Monday, Mayor’s Bike Ride and Family Night on Tuesday, and C.I.C.L.E.’s Art Night ride on Friday.
