Free Valley Greek Festival Memorial Weekend!

Get your Greek on at the FREE Valley Greek Festival on Memorial Weekend May 25 -27. It’s one of our favorite free things to do in L.A. and the fest is now celebrating it’s 40th anniversary.

The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church hosts this all things Greek weekend in Northridge. You can’t miss the gleaming gold of the church roofs on top of a Balboa Blvd. hill.

The family event includes Greek dance troupes performing in the traditional costumes of the islands, The Olympians playing the bouzouki, and tours of the church’s authentic Byzantine craftsmanship and walls covered in richly hued mosaics.

Free Greek Festival

Learn to cook traditional Greek cuisine with the Greek Market’s free hourly cooking demonstrations. And yes, there is plenty of Greek food! No the food is not free but how can you resist homemade sweet filo dough Baklava — my favorite!– or Loukoumades, lightly fried dough dripping with sweet honey and cinnamon. Plus Greek style chicken dinners cooked fresh with all natural Mediterranean ingredients and Souvlaki, pork or beef kabobs marinated in olive oil, lemon and special herbs & spices and grilled.
